Cast Biographies - Steel Magnolias (2009)

(Annelle) Caitlin Bruggeman is excited to be working with Gypsy Theatre
Company for the first time.  She holds a B.A. in Theatre Arts from Lagrange
College, where she performed such roles as Jane Hopcroft in Absurd Person
Singular and Lysistrata in
Lysistrata.  She recently finished a year-long
performance internship with Actor's Express in Atlanta, where she had the
opportunity to understudy the one-woman show
When Something Wonderful
Ends
.  Caitlin would like to thank Mercury, Danielle, the fabulous cast and
crew, and of course her family and friends for their love and support.
(M’Lynn) Jan Grimshaw was last seen as M’Lynn in Steel Magnolias at
The Holly Theatre in Dahlonega. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to
explore different facets of this amazing character. She has also played
Hippolyta in
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Lisa in Quilters, Marilla in Anne
of Green Gables
, and Marmee in Little Women. She has been (type) cast
as a silly girl in Disney’s
Beauty and the Beast at the Black Bear Dinner
Theatre, and appeared as Ethel Thayer in the CATCo. Production of
On
Golden Pond
, here at the Cumming Playhouse. When not on stage you
may find her singing in the chancel choir at Christ the King Lutheran
Church, or relaxing on her hobby farm here in Cumming with her husband Rich.
(Ouiser) Debbi Hamm has most recently performed at Dahlonega’s Holly
Theater in
How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.   Prior to her
absence, Debbi performed in New York State with The Walton Little Theater
Group and The Paperback Players.  Her shows have included
Oklahoma!,
The Murder Room, Good-bye Charlie,
and The Inspector General.   She
loves the theater and is excited to be back on stage cast in her favorite role,
Ouiser.   Debbi wishes to thank her husband and children for their support as
she pursues her love of the theater.  Special thanks go to Mercury for his
confidence in her ability and for his guidance in her growth as an actress as
well as to Danielle for her tireless support.
(Shelby) Stefanie Newsome is excited to be back on stage at the
playhouse as Shelby in
Steel Magnolias (one of her favorite movies)! Prior
favorite productions include
Annie, State Fair, Annie Get Your Gun, Oliver,
Guys & Dolls,
and Chicago. Thanks to my mom, dad, family, and new fiancé
Jamin for their continuous love and support. Your never ending love and
support this past year have been a blessing; this is for all of you!
(Truvy) Charity Caroline Pirkle studied theatre at Oglethorpe
University, and after doing a few independent films and plays she made
the leap to the West Coast to follow her dreams.  She was a resident
artist with Needtheater and a member of the board of directors for the
Women’s Ensemble Theatre of Los Angeles.  When the writer’s strike
drove her back home, she found she is as happy working in Atlanta as
she was in Los Angeles.  Recent film credits include:  
12:21; The Horror,
The Horror;  Stepbrothers.
 Recent stage credits:  1776; Ten; Macbeth.

(Clairee) Joylene Taylor is excited to be working with the Gypsy Theatre
Company.  She is returning to Georgia after having performed Jack's Mother
(Into the Woods) with the Mill Mountain Theatre in Roanoke, VA., and Frau
Schmidt
(Sound of Music) at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre in Lancaster,
PA.  She worked and studied at the American Institute of Musical Studies in
Graz, Austria, where she performed with the AIMS Festival Orchestra in the
Kasematten under the direction of conductor Stuart Malina.  Ms. Taylor
created a visiting artist program
(Musical Stories On Stage) which has been
performed through out the South Eastern United States.
